Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) provides the backup power protection required for 24/7 operation. PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. has installed UPS systems from the most basic single-phase units in communication closets to sophisticated, scalable, redundant, 3-phase, installations in large internet data centers.

UPS systems provide continuous battery up time for IT and communications equipment through

relatively short power outages and provide ride-through support for transfer to backup generators for long-term outages.

Power Distribution & Conditioning

Effective power distribution is key to a highly available Data Center. Conditioning can be in the form of isolation and K rated transformers (to address harmonic loads), surge suppression and other protection features.

UL listed power cables should be shielded in a flexible, steel conduit encased in a copper shield to prevent electrical noise (EMI) from other cables and equipment in your data center. By labeling each cable at each end, you can easily and efficiently pick out how your computer equipment is cabled.

Precision Air Conditioning

IT environment equipment requires rigid environmental conditions for reliable operation.  Precision air conditioning systems and rack-based air handling systems are specifically designed for the concentrated vertical heat loads of today’s data centers.

Precision computer room air conditioners provide efficient heat removal, superior humidity control, greater airflow, better air filtration, greater flexibility and expandability, and numerous alarm and redundancy options.

Rack-Based Air Handling

Today’s high-density loads provide a unique situation where the ability to provide increased power for a given load is curtailed only by the data center environments ability to remove the heat from that load. 

For that reason, PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. specialized in providing rack-based air distribution and heat removal strategies for power dense enclosures and low static pressure access floor environments. 

Rack-based air distribution units work with an existing precision air conditioning system to deliver cool air to the equipment contained in a rack enclosure.

These systems connect into the raised floor and pulls supply air directly into the enclosure thereby preventing the conditioned air from mixing with warmer room air before reaching the equipment.

The rack air distribution unit helps to eliminate temperature differences between the top and bottom of the enclosure. It also prevents hot exhaust air from recirculating to the inlet of the enclosure.

PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. recommends the rack air distribution unit for rack enclosures with loads greater than 1.5 kW and can provide airflow for loads up to 3.0kW. Additionally, it is recommended for raised floor environments where underfloor air distribution is inadequate for adjacent IT loads.

Access Floor Air Distribution

An access floor is actually a floor raised above a floor. Its purpose is to create a controlled area for wire management and air distribution.  

In today’s computer room environment, many pieces of electrical equipment are being used.  Each requires various power cords and data connectivity.  PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. segments the space within the access floor to create zones where cords, cables and mechanical piping can be routed while still maintaining adequate clearance to provide adequate air flow through perforated tiles and/or vents placed throughout the access floor.

The construction of an access floor is comprised of 24" square and 1 7/16" thick panels, of various materials, and providing different weigh loading characteristics. The floor panels can be rearranged at any time to suit your data center needs.

 

Sub-Floor Cabling & Water Detection

Moisture below the floor can damage wiring or equipment and cause costly downtime.  A sub-floor water detection system can provide immediate warning. Alarming can be provided via various audible, visual, in-band and out-of-band methods.

Fire Suppression & Detection

Fire protection & detection is an absolute necessity for your business’ survival.  In the event of a fire, heat and smoke can, at best, only damage delicate electronic equipment and, worse, take out the building. A fire protection strategy has two parts, an FM-200 system that protects the data center equipment and a ‘wet’ or ‘pre-action’ sprinkler system that is used to save the building. PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. evaluates code & insurance requirement in determining the best technique for a given project. 

FM-200 is a fire suppression agent that is quick, clean and effective.  It is people and planet safe given that it has a zero ozone depleting potential.  FM-200 can be dispensed into a room within 10 seconds or less and leaves no particulates or oily residue behind.

The network operations center (NOC) or command bridge can be as simple as a single desk with a single user access point or as complex as a multi-user production and/or monitoring console. A NOC production console is a dedicated location from which multiple user can initiate network activities and tasks on network assets that may be spread throughout the enterprise.

In-Band & Out-of-Band Monitoring

In-band monitoring refers to accessibility of systems status via the existing network infrastructure. Out-of-band monitoring refers to the ability to access and/or remotely control systems independent of the existing network infrastructure. Out-of-band access can

be accomplished via a separate data network or ‘dial-in’ capability of individual pieces of equipment. 

Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) is a far greater contributor to high-availability than is Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF). Site Cleaning

It is imperative to keep the data center environment clean of any dust and dirt because of the harm that can be done to the operating systems. Therefore, after data center construction is complete, we thoroughly clean above and below the raised floor with particular attention to detail. In addition to post construction cleaning, regular cleanings are highly recommended throughout the life of the data center.  Our experienced cleaning crews are well aware of the caution that must be employed in an active data center environment during the regular cleanings.

It is imperative to keep the data center environment clean of any dust and dirt because of the harm that can be done to the operating systems. Therefore, after data center construction is complete, we thoroughly clean above and below the raised floor with particular attention to detail. In addition to post construction cleaning, regular cleanings are highly recommended throughout the life of the data center.  Our experienced cleaning crews are well aware of the caution that must be employed in an active data center environment during the regular cleanings.

q       Systematic vacuuming to remove dirt, dust and contaminants

q       Antistatic cleaning and machine scrubbing of high pressure laminate raised floor surfaces

q       Damp wiping of environmental equipment and counter surfaces

q       Carpet cleaning

q       Ramp and tile floor landing waxing

 

Maintenance

When construction of the data center is complete, PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. offers a preventive maintenance service agreement to ensure reliable operation of the critical systems installed. Since we designed and built your facility, we have a thorough understanding of these systems. Therefore, our management and field technicians are in the best position to provide superior service.

A comprehensive service plan is specifically

designed to provide preventive maintenance, reliable 24/7 emergency service and corrective service for the data center.  PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. will manage the plan through our selected service affiliates and will contract directly with each supplier of the described services. 

A PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. Service Coordinator will be responsible for:

q       Develop

an annual preventive maintenance schedule

q       Coordination and tracking of all service visits

q       Physical site inspecting

q       Review of invoices for additional services

q       Review of all service reports

q       Resolution of service issues
